Since its beginning in 1962 and through the campaign of 2020, the United Way of Posey County has raised $16,054,321 for local agencies and United Way programs such as 2-1-1. In 2019, more than 14,250 Posey County residents used the services of at least one Posey County United Way agency.
Programs We Fund
Albion Fellows Bacon Center
Provides safe shelter and crisis intervention services to female victims of domestic violence and sexual assault and their minor children. Services include crisis phone line, counseling, legal advocacy, child advocacy, information and referral, self-help group facilitation, emergency assistance, and educational programs.
American Red Cross-Posey County
Provides immediate response to victims of major and minor disasters with food, clothing, shelter, health services and blood. Conducts community service programs, holds blood drives, as well as emergency communications between members of the Armed Forces and their families.
Big Brothers Big Sisters
Provides children facing adversity with strong and enduring professionally supported one-to-one relationships that change their lives for the better, forever.
Buffalo Trace Council-BSA
Promotes the positive development of young people through character education, citizenship training and personal fitness education. These traits are taught by encouraging positive interaction between youths through hands-on activities at weekly meetings.
Social Service agency offering direct service programs and referral services in cooperation with other community resources. Services include family therapy, comprehensive emergency assistance and foster family care. Services are offered without regard to religious affiliation.
Children’s Learning Center of Posey Co.
An atmosphere for children which provides for their emotional, intellectual and social development when their parents are at work. Scholarship assistance for low/moderate income families.
Christian Church Day Care Center
Located in Wadesville, it provides a nurturing environment for children while their parents work. Scholarship assistance for low/moderate income families.
Community Emergency Assistance
The Community Emergency Assistance Board offers assistance throughout Posey County to families that have a need and qualify after seeking resources and referrals from their township trustee.
Easter Seals Rehabilitation Center
A comprehensive rehabilitation resource for disabled people in the Tri-State area. Programs include medical, social, psychological, and vocational services for children and adults.
Easter Seals Rehabilitation Center-Posey County
Serves individuals with disabilities and special needs to achieve their goals of working, learning and living in the community. The program includes a sheltered workshop, assistance with obtaining community employment, classes to enhance educational, recreational and social skills and a residential facility.

Homeless Shelter of Mt. Vernon
Provide short-term housing and services for homeless families in Posey County.
A counseling agency whose mission is to improve the quality of life for individuals, children and families. Services include: Counseling, Psychological Testing, Adoption (Domestic & International), and Family Strengthening programs.
New Harmony Ministry Association
Operates a food pantry for residents of Posey County and provides emergency assistance for utilities and rent to residents who first seek help from their Township Trustee.
Posey County Council on Aging
Provides services to senior citizens that will help to prevent inappropriate institutionalization and encourage self-sufficiency among senior citizens. These services include: Senior Centers that offer lunch, health screening and socialization; transportation for doctor appointments, shopping, etc.; and homemaker and attendant care to aide them in an independent lifestyle.
The Salvation Army
Provides emergency welfare assistance in Posey County. A “service unit” operated by Mt. Vernon volunteers provide for family and individual emergency needs in crisis situations.
Willow Tree of Posey County
Offers public education and awareness programs to end family and sexual violence and provides assistance to victims and their families.
WNIN Radio Reading Program
Offers daily reading of newspapers, magazines, and other information through a free receiver to provide information and companionship to the blind and print-handicapped of Posey County.
